Learn how to make a beautiful cover for your sewing machine!
You will receive a PDF download for the Sewing Machine Cover Tutorial. This is a tutorial, not a pattern, so there are no pattern pieces to print out and there is plenty of room to get creative and make it your own!
Included in the tutorial are three different versions to choose from:
1. Quick version - uses two larger pieces of fabric to create a simple color-block cover
2. Checkered patchwork version - traditional and nostalgic like a classic patchwork quilt for your machine. This version uses strip-piecing for efficiency.
3. Little Home version - created from two patchwork house quilt blocks. This version uses strip-piecing as well as half-square triangles. Great practice for these techniques!
Fabric requirements:
Each version of the sewing machine cover can be made using larger scraps and fat quarters. Bias-binding is needed to finish the bottom edge and inside seams (optional) of the cover.
I hope your machine cover will bring you joy every time you sit down to sew. This project would also make a lovely gift for another maker. Happy sewing!
MEASUREMENTS for final cover:
Recommend checking these against your machine prior to purchasing:
Cover measures: 17"L x 10"H x 7"D
**tested on a Brother XM2701 home sewing machine measuring: 15"L x 10.5"H x 5"D
Not included in the tutorial:
- The tutorial does not include in-depth instructions for hand-quilting, hand-tying, or machine-quilting the pieces for your cover. This leaves room for creative freedom to quilt according to your preferred method.
- Instructions for any additional appliqué, embroidery or other embellishments are not included in the tutorial, but you are absolutely encouraged to add your flair and truly make the cover your own with the materials you have on hand!
Note: This is not a physical product. A link to download a digital PDF will be sent via email after you checkout.
